Was watching the National about concussions in hockey [HTML_REMOVED] Nfl.
There was a study by dr. Eklund and Bosten University.
In Football players like,Tim Flyster,Is developing a shock absorbing Helmet.Dave Duverson Suffered like many blows to the head,He was a Saftey with a excellent profile,in points standings stats. He recently shot himself in the chest, and donated his brain to be studyied at BU.There were apparent findings such as Atraphey,Shrinking of the grey matter.
In the NHL Players such as Sydney Crosby is out for 8 weeks after a severe hit to the dome.
Another player died with a brain injury, having a degenertive syndrome, dementia.
When you hit your head biking, there is pressure in your head , and swelling.
You are suppose to take sufficient time to recooperate ,and avoid heavy concentration. They had a model of your brain it is like a bowl of jello, when you hit it repeatedly it weakens the tissue kind of like shaken baby syndrome.
I know i got like 4 cracked helmets that the foam inside is not sound
that i am going to show a neuroligist in may there is a reason why i may be slow .

This guy's personal life provided the thread of the year, you could have a little more patience…

There was a really interesting article about this in the New Yorker last year. It looked at a bunch of NFLer who had totally lost it. A number of them had been bright people who had gone on to get law degrees etc after their playing careers only to completely lose it 10-15 years later. Scary stuff.

I remember this being discussed when the wrassler Chris Benoit killed his wife and child and then himself. Originally it was thought to be a side effect of steroid abuse, but then this multiple concussion theory was also put forward.

at least it seems as though various leagues are treating concussions more seriously with mandatory testing and rest periods before athletes are returned to play, stiffer penalties for instances that are more likely to lead to these injuries as well like helmet-helmet contact, etc.
