Hopefully, like GTA 5, we see a PC port announced soon! That being said, if ever there was a game that motivated me to buy a console, it would be RDR.

It's okay, breathe! They did the same thing with the GTA V launch. Have faith!

Takes them a little while to remove the bullshit graphical constraints needed to run the game at higher than potato framerate and potato resolution ;)

They seem to sell-through at about a 10 to 1 on console vs PC. So if you want them to keep producing games, they need to follow the money.

The first DRD never did come out for PC… I'm not holding my breath on this one.

That ratio was Rockstar's own fault by delaying the PC release 2 years. Many players like myself had already played the game on console and had moved on long before the port was even announced.

Battlefield 4 is a pretty good example of a game that was released on multiple platforms simultaneously.

^as of 2014

According to BF4 stats there are currently 19,300 people playing on PC, 15000 on Xbox (11000 on Xbox 1 and 4000 on the 360) and 15000 on PS4 (11000 on PS3 and 5000 on PS4). Games like Overwatch for example have earned Blizzard 4 times as much revenue from PC sales than consoles, Ark: Survival Evolved has also sold more than 4 times as many copies on PC than console. Some games sell better on PC than console, and some sell better on Console than PC.

The reason that many games that were formerly console exclusives are being released on all three platforms now is that consoles market share is shrinking due to lackluster hardware that can't even run a lot of major titles at 1080p. Battlefield 1 for instance runs at 720p on the Xbox 1 and 900p on the PS4, both at 30 FPS.

Console exclusives are dead, or almost dead. Especially with Microsoft trying to compete with Steam directly on Windows 10.

Edit*

You also have to realize why the original RDR wasn't released on PC. According to Rockstar, it wasn't because they were 'following the money', it's because they had a helluva time coming up with a DRM solution. They've ironed out a lot of the kinks with GTA 5 and I suspect that as soon as the new RDR is integrated into Rockstar Social Club, they add mod support (just like they did before releasing GTA 5), and the textures are updated for higher resolutions, we'll see a port dropping on PC.

Nice :) Really just goes to show that new the new generation of consoles are truly the place to be playing.

PCMR checking in.

Never played RDR1 so it would be nice to try 2 out. I refuse to buy a console.

Read Dead Redemption is the only game since playing Nintendo as a kid that really captivated my attention.

A brilliant world that Rockstar created.

RDR is so good. It's worth it to beg/borrow a XB360 and have a play through.
