recommend me a cheap commuter car

I'm starting a new job and I will have a 100km/day round trip commute to and from the office. I'd like to pick up a cheap semi-disposable commuter car since my gas-guzzling SUV isn't the best choice given the cost of gas these days.

Under $2k. Sedan or station wagon. Cheap on gas. nearly anything goes.

seems hard to beat a mid 90's tercel or something along those lines. Any other suggestions?

tercel, civic, corolla, etc

hell for $2500 you could even get yourself an acura integra or el.

Toyota's seem to hold value around here so I decided I'm going to pick up a shitbox tercel or camry, drive it for a while then slap a Free Tibet sticker on the back and sell it to some hippie for a profit

not many jobs I'd ever think about driving that far but it's worth it for me to stick it out for a while

You're buying a 2000 dollar car, it's deprecation curve has already flat lined, and it's 2000 dollars so who gives a shit about that. How about worrying about buying something economical, reliable, and comfy.

sometimes I think you must be dumber than you appear on the internet.
