I doubt maintenance is significantly cheaper on a ctsv. (compared to M3)

I'd have to disagree mainly because at the end of the day it's still a Chevy.
The brakes are 6 pot/4 pot Brembo, so while the pads and rotors won't be cheap, they're not like the ceramic costs carried by the exotics. The engine is a blown LSA, which is pretty much bulletproof. Tremec transmission, also bulletproof. Really the only thing that's going to cost you is new rear tires. The steering probably feels like shit, a typical issue with the GM products… Even the high end ones.

That said, I still lust over an R8. I saw another one a few days ago and thought, "now that's a proper supercar".

I dont think m3 has ceramic rotors.. nor is it an exotic..
