Evergreen Aviation Museum is pretty rad. They also have a water park with a 747 on the roof.

Looking to take in a NBA game with the Grom and wife in Portland (sigh…. missing the Sonics!)

Any family friendly activites that we should't mis?

Looking to the googles has yielded many shots of hipsteresq D-bags. Not into that scene.

Saturday morning farmer's market up at the university is cool, some great food.

There's also the Saturday market down along the river, more 'arts and crafts' kind of stuff, but, it's family friendly.

Happy hour at Deschutes Brewery is awesome . . .cheap drafts and appetizers. Getting drunk isn't family friendly, but it can help in family making.

Was down there a couple of months ago…. There's way more dbags in Vancouver than down there

I was there a couple of weeks ago and while there are way more hipsters there I found everyone considerably more friendly than Vancouver. Though Vancouver sets a fairly low bar in terms of friendliness (until you get people to open up).

Didn't do anything super family friendly but browsing on Alberta st could be fun and hitting some food carts. Also enjoyed seeing a movie at the Baghdad. You can bring a beer in and they have nicely spaced seats. As stated Powells is amazing.

Portland has the most strip clubs per-capita in the US.

While I am pushing for the stripers I think the wife has different plans! :(

Just got our tickets for the Trailblazers vs Raptors. Little torn who to cheer for though as I guess the Blazers are about as local as you can get for a NBA home team but the Raptors are Canadian (but Toronto!).

I think we are going to hit up Powells books and make a visit to the OMSI.

Want to go to Evergreen museum but I don't think we wil have time.

Thanks for all the ideas everyone. I think my kid should be stoked with a Christmas trip to a NBA game!

+1 to the Kennedy School, HUB, Deschutes, Powells and "brewerys". I'll add Pine State Biscuts to that list, we liked it so much we went twice over a 4-day weekend trip.

+1 again to Kennedy School. That place is excellent.

We moved back here in February and although we don't get to downtown Portland too often I can make a couple suggestions.

Beer:
Hair of the Dog Brewery
Cascade Brewery
Green Dragon
(all 3 are within 4 blocks of each other)

As stated before Belmont Station is great for beer to go as well as a small pub with a few great beers always on tap.

Saturday Market (Runs Saturday and Sunday) would be a good family thing to do if the weather's good.

If you want to go to Voodoo go to their location on the east side (close to the breweries I mentioned) since the lineups are not nearly as long.

I second Kennedy School, very cool place.
