I've heard that rubbing a sharks nose sort of paralyzes them. I've never been brave enough to try it though.

It's called 'tonic' as in catatonic. There was a guy who did it with a tiger shark and I
think a GW as well (on Discovery a while ago). These looked like Black tips, they're kind
of like white tips in Hawaii…pretty mellow and non threatening, not all sharks are the
same.

cool party trick. much more impressive than hypnotizing chickens. Although I'm a little scared to think of what he tries when the cameras aren't rolling.
