Hit the ukrainian or polish churches or community centers. There is an army of "Babas" rollin and a pinchin their hands off. Used to be able to buy em frozen for 5$ a bag, or if u got lucky and got them on a production day, fresh. They seem like a lot of work for a lazy unmotivated cook like me. Ever tried bluberry perogies?? fantastic desert variety eaten cold.

There used to be a good perogie joint near the burrard bridge (south side) - that was many years ago. Anyone know a good place now?
The frozen kind just don't cut it.

Another reason not to bail us on the next trip to Rossland…Grand Forks has a few joints to get good grub at…perogies, borsch, cabbage rols…yum!

you bailed on a rossland trip?!?

that's almost worth blowing the thirty days to call you a fool for doing that.

then again, that would be the truth so i really wouldn't be messing anything up.

I was playing poker one night, I think it is at the polish center, not sure of the location but they have an awsome perogy as sausage dinner there

Confirmed, it was the polish club, good eats and a smoking cutie there

I might have to make a quick trip home this weekend. Drop off the Bottlerocket for the winter, get the BlkMrkt back on campus - oh, and steal a bunch of HOMEMADE pierogies!

Like many have mentioned, there's your standard meat and potatoes pierogies for the main chunk of the meal, but fruit pierogies like blueberry and strawberry are killer for a dessert.

To find the good Polish pIerogies, you gotta spell them right first!

Take it back to the STREETS.

The GF hotel is awesome for some down home doukhobor food, pretty cheap and the pie is great. Weezie's borscht hut in Castlegar is almost as good but kind of pricey.

i always though piroges were german, hmmm.

I was a little dissapointed actually just because all the stuff for sale was mostly for females, but I was able to pick up some "rocket power" which is like a tingiling balm for your peepee.

I was joking I'd probably never have sex with a hooker. I'm friends with a couple of the high up ones though…

Nope They are a slavic creation. German ones are dumplings.

The Best Perogy supper in Vancouver is at Taras Schevenko Uk. Catholic Church on West 10th. on Fridays. Its 5 bucks. and they sell bags to take home and freeze as well.

The Ukrainian Village restaurant on Denman also is not bad, but then I am a bit of a perogy purist, if they are not made by my mumKo or my baba, then they are all 2nd rate in my books. In June when my mum is here I'll have her make a batch and invite some of you over to taste what a real perogy tastes like.
