I'm not so much talking about NSMB in particular. I remember browsing the Canucks HFBoards at the end of last season and people were pretty adamant about getting rid of him. Didn't seem like there were many people who wanted him around

Yeah, I could see that. I was going by what my hockey buddies were saying as well as what commentators were saying.

That's up to him to break that contract right?

Yeah, Gillis has said all along he will not break/re-negotiate a contract.

Interesting development… I have a hard time seeing Ehrhoff getting his market value in Vancouver; the internal cap set by the Sedins' contract is pretty low.

The Canucks have $13 million to play with. Apparently Ehrhoff wanted some pretty high figure which the Canucks were not willing to do.

if he wasn't going to sign for the money they offered, they get nothing for him as of the end of the week. 4th round pick is better than nothing. He apparently refused the same offer that Bieksa accepted. There's no saying he'll stay with the Islanders, lots of internet speculation of him and Detroit.

Pretty standard. No guarantee he'll sign when you acquire the negotiating rights so most teams don't give up a lot

We didn't trade the player, we traded his rights. He's a free agent after Friday.

Technically, Gillis could sign him on Saturday if the Islanders don't get it done in the mean time.

I hope they don't make it into the playoffs next. Clearly there is a segment of Canucks fans that are not able to act civilized or control themselves when there emotions and alcohol are combined.

yes. if the canucks don't make the playoffs
-no one will drink and drive
- no one will get injured
- young kids won't be stupid
- property will not get damaged

i hope that the fireworks and jazz festival get cancelled too

this space is intentionally blank, other than this note about it being blank.

Which means what exactly?

We could get another world class goalie in Rick DePietro?

Come July 1, Erhoff is legally allowed to speak to other teams.

To date, Gillis has been negotiating with Erhoff.

It seems they are unable to come to terms.

The Islanders gave us a fourth round pick for the legal rights to negotiate a contract between now and July 1.
