You can get by in this financial climate, and that's what the person who wrote that sign is doing, but it doesn't address the fact that the system is still broken and anything that most of us do is an uphill battle.

anything that most of us do is an uphill battle.

Battle for what? Relative differences in income mean nothing. If I have everything I NEED and want then what more matters?

Now on the topic of politics yes I agree the system is fucked. Too many short sighted politicians and even shorter sighted voters.

Agreed. It is possible to be successful in a system and still acknowledge that the system is fundamentally unfair.

The people who say they are not the 99% are confused. They might not agree with the rest of the 99% but nonetheless are still in that percentage.

Just a bit naive.
Because she is the 99%, maybe a bit more self-aware than most.

Noone cares if she got a scholarship or not.

The point is to protest fraudulent and corrupt bank practices and the fact that the political system (in the USA now but Canada is headed that way) is mostly fucked and cannot fix any problems (environmental, corruption, healthcare, social assistance) because it is owned by $$$ and its stakeholders.

that is the most reatrded thing ever even a retarded would say thats retarded

OIC, so everyone in college and university just needs to go on scholarships and have it paid for… wait… how is that not socialized post secondary? I think this person needs to keep taking classes.

There are definitely some issues with the system. But a lot of people who are protesting this don't have a clue what is going on or why they are doing it.

Most seem to be self entitled young college kids that believe in the socialist utopia dream and this is just another protest to them. Next month it will be something else. In Calgary, there is an event going on called, yes you guessed it: Occupy Calgary. A lot of the people taking part of these protests are depleting the homeless shelters of their food.

This really gets me angry. These people who are against corporate greed (not that I'm not against that) are taking advantage of the biggest charitable homeless shelter in Canada. They are taking away physical goods that people need to survive away from the people that need it most. What a bunch of horseshit.

The cynic in me notices how remarkably similar these two letters are.

I know a bunch of people that are paying for school out of their pockets and with the help of school loans. These same people are going to be making 6 figure starting salaries w/ 5 figure signing bonuses right out of school. They will be sitting pretty comfortable in the next couple of years. It's not all doom and gloom coming out of college. If you plan smart, you can do really well for yourself. It's not just the corporate elite that are doing well and have comfortable lifestyles.
