Some of the Grenache from Australia is quite good - I'd put it into the list.
Have you ever met the St. Hallet owner? Big guy with a beard. At the Vancouver wine festival a few years ago, he was alone (I got in their early), and I asked to try his wine. He took his Old Block and filled the glass right up to the top. I said, "whoah - a little much", and he said "don't worry, it's good wine, and you don't spit it out". A real character. Within an hour he was flooded by people, all getting hammered and having a great time.
Meanwhile, ze Germans were pour 0.2 ounces of Riesling into a glass and saying "you're lucky - that's a big pore".
