I think my truck may have exhaust getting into the cab. I dont drive it much, mainly to get up the mountain but when do I'm finding I get a bit of a headache. The effect is less when the window is open. Its loud but I cant find any exhaust leaks, lots comes out the tailpipe.

Anyone know of something I can buy to test for fumes, or would a shop be able to test. its a beater 4x4 so I'm not into spending a ton of doe. Any input would be appreciated

any oil leaks at all? it could be fumes from motor/tranny oil getting into the cab from the ventilation system.

i had that with my old truck and kinds went thru the same thing.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

Know any ventilation/furnace people, they may have a CO2 and CO monitor you could stick in the cab and check levels as you drive?

I may have a hand held FID at work that measures airborne hydrocarbon concentrations and maybe also CO2. I'll check to see if it's still in the orifice (may be out on site at the moment) and I could bring it home and we could try it out? It's pretty sensitive to hydrocarbons (down to 0.5 ppm) and you could probably track a HC leak if it is fuel or heated oil related. I'm in North Vancouver.

Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.

Anyone who works in the environmental (contaminated land investigation) business will have access to one.

Shame, I am out at Sumas tomorrow doing a presentation, but can't get hold of it in time. I sometimes do work in Chilliwack or Agazzi, I'll let you know if I'm out that way sometime soon.

pick up a can of seafoam and you'd be able to see if theres exhaust coming into the cab most likely.

That shit makes a HUGE cloud.

Check the exhaust all the way from the block. I.e. headers, collector, cat and tailpipe. Spraying something on there to look for bubbles is one way, as is feeling for air by hand and looking for blackened areas.

If you can get all the hardware undone you may only need to drop $40-$50 on gaskets and gasket sealant to take care of the problem.
