The freetards got me wrench happy a few years ago but wreckers have me less than happy. I have been looking for an engine for my vehicle and when I phone a wrecker and ask if they have any; the answers are "Yup we have a few with just under or over 200K on them" , but go down to the yard a few days later and see the vehicles in person and they all have just under or over 300K on them. This seams to be the case with every wrecker I have been to. I guess there is no mandate for accurate milage for these guys. Any body know any details on finding icbc writeoffs for a parts vehicle?

Would love to know too!

I am looking for a 97-98 crv b20b engine or a 99-01 crv b20z (plus a few things to make it work with my 98). Once I get a decent engine in for a daily driver I can start playing around with my original engine and build me a MOARR POWER cute ute.

Can you keep driving the motor in the CRV and build the motor you get. That way you can piece it out and don't have to do the install twice.

Question for you guys about non-oem oil filler caps. Would you trust one that doesnt seem to have the floating lock/ratchet screw on type (think clicking gas caps)? I'm looking at one but it just has a (high quality) gasket/rubber o-ring so I'm both unsure if it does click and is only hand tightened.

Current motor has a leaky head gasket and rocker arms and camshafts are worn to the point that a valve adjustment is not possible and sounds like a diesel.

Throw some super light oil and diesel into the crankcase. Lug it a lot. Get respect from dually riders. Profit.

Don't you mean heavy oil…like gear oil, it sure made my blown crank Rod bearing quiter!
