Had some on my old Tacoma. Each tire was 21lbs heavier than stock. Not sure they are designed to be run at such low pressure all the time.

the old BFG A/T KO's are quite OK, no matter what the (very informative) test states. Sure, for proper off road duty M/T are better (as well as many other proper off road tires), but the BFG AT is a good all rounder. The biggest downside on those is winter driving. While OK in deeper snow, the braking/traction performance on iced/slushed roads is terrible. From what I gather, the KO2s are a proper all season (winter) tire, and should perform better. I hope durability won't suffer too much because of the added slits. The BFG AT durability was, in my experience exceptional.
In comparison between BFG AT, BFG MT, Bridgestone duellers, Yokohama geolander and brief experience with some others, I would even preffer the old AT KOs for my intended use and maybe an extra set of proper mud pluggers (Nitto?) for those off road specific moments. If the new KO2 is 15% better than the old model, i think it will be a great all round choice.

If your gonna drive shot rock the armored wrangers are really tough. I drove a set into the ground and never punctured a sidewall many many miles on the sharp stuff. I just glanced through that test and didnt notice them puncturing any sidewalls. All the flats ive been part of in the bush were sidewall cuts.

People i know that have (or had) proper 4x4s or don't baby their subarus tend to fit the BFG ATs and never look back. The subie owners swear by the yokohama geolander…
This is of course also due to availability and brand presence, but the fact is that my dad had BFG ATs on all his off roaders because his first set got him through more than 10000 km of north Africa AND a couple of winters AND the daily commute, a total of aprox. 30000 km, before selling the car. without a single puncture and sometimes running low pressures off road as well…
Sure there are more than one great alternative to those, but i know what i would buy.
A friend modded his SX4 and is running the Geolanders. Surprisingly quiet tire. Pretty good snow traction too.

I've had a set of general grabber at's for the last 40k and they're great tires IMO. I use them year round here in the interior (meet the snowflake rating), most of my spare time is driving on logging roads to go biking, building or hiking and some rough 4x4'ing that is far beyond normal daily-driver duties and no punctures yet. Lots of long distance highway trips, they handle fine on the highway but to be honest my 4x4 is far from a smooth highway-cruiser so I wouldn't notice the difference between these and any other tires.
really impressed with winter performance and tread life out of them on my SUV. I had a set of Blizzak's on rims for winters before I got the general grabbers and while the blizzaks are a better tire on sheer ice, the grabbers are better in unplowed, compact, wet or any other type of road condition.
all that being said when these wear out I'll probably pick up a set of duratrac's from canadian tire because they often come up on 4 for the price of 3 deals.
