At the end of the day high power drag strip tanks like the above are fun for 5 minutes but when you take them to a proper circuit they're about as much fun as doing an XC race on a 40lb freeride anchor.

I never got into real drag racing, mainly because there is no proper drag strips where I live, so it has always been more about windy mountain passes. So yeah, the muscle car concept is not for me. That said, I do like the "mechanical" aspect of driving (driving is not the same as commuting), like shifting gears, perfectly double de-clutching etc. And there is the noise of course.
So while the Tesla might be great for commuting and driving short/medium highway miles (not having tried it yet, i can not be sure, as stated in the EV thread), there will always be a place in my garage for something "old school". Maybe a Litchfield modified BRZ.

Or an Alfa 4C, a Cayman gt4… I think that cars like those will have a role of the weekend toy, not dissimilar to the role they have now in fact. Maybe kind of like a SS hard tail in bike quivers. Electric makes sense for commuting, not driving for fun, no matter the acceleration. Once you get used to the acceleration, there needs to be more I think.

I think any stock EV that runs just under 12 with what was probably all season tires b/c I havent watch it is technically at a handicap.
fortunately Tesla is more concerned with practicality than winning drag races. Seriously, when does being .8 seconds faster over a quarter ever give anyone an advantage in day to day driving? With the torque electric has off the line they would have to be careful not to make one that would snap the drivers neck.
Mmmm neck snapping torque. As for the .8 seconds argument, while not a designed intent, 1 second can mean life or death. You either have an extra second to clear it or the extra to see it and hopefully react in some appropriate manner. Gotta think past street racing when time comes into daily driving.
I can think of a time recently going north down Granville passed 49th in the center lane for a change as I usually ride the curb lane to avoid this exact situation. That intersection allows left turns but no left turn light arrow in any direction. Classic bonehead driver who cant wait for safety, turns out into the oncoming lane blocked by left turner's going down 49th W off Gville. He just goes as I'm approaching the crosswalk at speeds above posted lets say. He brakes and stops in my lane, I know no ones beside me so I put the car slightly sideways into the curb lane through the intersection and was lucky it was raining and I was speeding. If I honestly was one second slower, I would've had no choice to but to just hit him. Either in the center of three lanes as a straight T bone, my hood to his right front quarter (which would've been heinous) or attempt to avoid and swerve into the curb lane which would've invovled 4 more cars as we collide and I spin into the E 49th side. I didnt even have time to curse, just jerk the wheel, correct and then look in my mirrors. Chick's face at the bus stop was priceless though. Probably a reaction to my face.

Shogun, did you fix your boost leak issue ? What about cutting the CAI back to unbent material and using a silicone coupler to make up the space. You can even get reducing couplers since your CAI and turbo inlet are probably different diameters.
