I never got into real drag racing, mainly because there is no proper drag strips where I live, so it has always been more about windy mountain passes. So yeah, the muscle car concept is not for me. That said, I do like the "mechanical" aspect of driving (driving is not the same as commuting), like shifting gears, perfectly double de-clutching etc. And there is the noise of course.
So while the Tesla might be great for commuting and driving short/medium highway miles (not having tried it yet, i can not be sure, as stated in the EV thread), there will always be a place in my garage for something "old school". Maybe a Litchfield modified BRZ.

Or an Alfa 4C, a Cayman gt4… I think that cars like those will have a role of the weekend toy, not dissimilar to the role they have now in fact. Maybe kind of like a SS hard tail in bike quivers. Electric makes sense for commuting, not driving for fun, no matter the acceleration. Once you get used to the acceleration, there needs to be more I think.
