So hows this for some unwelcome surprises. Shop has it up on the lift and discovered the following:

-leaking/sweating oil cooler

-power steering return line leaking

-diff seals are leaking, both sides

-left rear camber arm is pinched and now unadjustable. I know the when, where and why for that.

- and the best part, need a new drive shaft. cv boot is torn.

I also got to see all of that except for the drive shaft as that was voicemailed after I left the shop.

Good times eh?

OEM drive shaft can be expensive.

It most likely is as so far not much on this car is inexpensive.

Turns out I need a new drive shaft now and not later. CV boot collapsed when removing the drive shaft.

Also forgot that the front passenger wheel bearing is also being replaced.

Holy smokes eBay global shipping is slow. Ordered a P/S pump out of Florida 2.5 weeks ago. Took forever to get out of Kentucky, now its sitting in Ottawa because of the post strike.

OEM pump is $370 US, same part # in Canada is $770 and change. Bunch of bullshit.

Just ordered a proportioning valve for the brakes on my Land Cruiser from Dubai. They have all kinds of parts for Land Cruisers over there.  I guess they need to have something to drive when the Lambo or Bugatti are in the shop :)

Same part in Canada was $500 and 3 week wait. Got it for $120 and was at my door in 6 days. Felt a bit risky, but turned out to be a great deal and experience. Old LandCruiser parts are getting hard to find at reasonable prices now here in Canada.

I buy from them often! Haven't let me down yet. Ebay had better options this time but I'm regretting it.

Almost bought my exhaust system from them.  Turned out that CarID had a better deal and super fast shipping in the US.

Looked at them for the clutch, dmf and now the driveshaft but edgeautosport.com had a better clutch kit package and the oem dual mass fly wheel was unnecessary at 260,000+.

But my dealership sourced a used driveshaft for $300. Dont think I can beat that as I couldnt find an oem price online and other than can carbon drive shafts and 500+ hp rear axle's, no luck. But I have some more idea's now (lol).

I didn't want to deal with sending my core back to Rockauto. All they had was reman pumps and I haven't had luck with reman parts.

My truck has a DMF as well, it's a throw away if the clutch burns up. $450 on Rockauto which is cheap.. 😲

You have to admit, Rolls did a good job with the Cullinan, it's an impressive vehicle. It's not for everyone and definitely not for the low key, but if you have a billion dollars and need something cool to park next to the Tesla you bought to prove to your wife that you're a good person, you can do much worse.

Side note, we recently bought a new X5 and I'm surprised that some of the interior buttons and infotainment features are lifted directly by Rolls from it's BMW Group cousin. I would be willing to bet that a good portion of the underlying tech (and possibly some mechanical bits) is lifted/co-developed for/from the higher end X5 and soon to be released X7 models.

.

Just got my car back..

15 hour quote took 29 days to finish... obviously wasnt 15 hours on the bill either.

For the price I ended up paying, there's no way it should've been 29 days either.

So if any other Vancouver Speed6's or Speed3's randomly follow this user, this is me officially unendorsing Freeway Mazda service.

I always like it when they say after a month of having your car, it'll be ready at 3pm. You show up at 4 and at 4:45 get a car with no sound because the mechanic didnt reconnect the stereo at the battery terminal because why? Because he routed it along side the battery and frame where it might short it out and would rather leave it. I see that and ask if there's enough slack on the power cable to just route it between the battery and intake.. and voi fuckin la !

Oh and you're also informed that the catch can drain valve you supplied for the catch can couldnt be installed because of where they put the catch can in the wheel well.. even though you asked/told them not to put it in the wheel well because you still run a cold air intake in the summer. They didnt add the drain valve because it might sheer off because of how low it is.

There's also a CEL and a 3 DTC's pertaining to the PCM that my tuner should've blocked as they're egr related which was removed but if the tuner did block those, then they fried my PCM if its still throwing those codes so I'll have to fix that on my own account next time as Freeway will probably never see this car again.

I got really good at the sky train and compass card shit in the downtime though...

Why didn't you just trade it in for a new CX5 turbo? Jeez........

Because it has a very low trade in value let alone resale without the repairs right now. And a CX3/5s has blind spots I dont like.

That and nothing screams mid life crisis like a hopped up 12 yr old sleepy sedan.
