Well clearly I'm out of the loop, I just remember the early 90s in germany being way more polluted than it is now.

There's a reason the Trabant was outlawed from entering Western Europe.

Best article on the VW diesel scandal I've read:

As Volkswagen Pushed to Be No. 1, Ambitions Fueled a Scandal

Anyone have a win xp laptop that I can how somehow borrow for 5 mins to reset my dashhawk? The software only works on 32bitness. Thinking I could meet one of you somewhere, buy you a coffee or drink while I plug in the DH. I'd email you the link to the software so there's no usb stuff needed.

Also, random auto blog update. Had to order a new boost control solenoid for the mazdarati. Went with a Cobb ECBS since I can still run it as oem (bleed) and provides an upgrade path when the turbo shits itself. If Corksports ECBS didnt need a tune/AP, I would've preferred to go that way. From what I posted on MSF, the prognosis is the ECBS but I'll be surprised if its just that. I've had some boost cut issue's for a while where the turbo just cuts out under hard load. That was both low oil once and probably bad turbo seals the rest.

Also if anyone needs a rear (JBR) 80a motor mount soon, let me know.

Check around, you might even be able to find someone that will give you one that is sitting in their basement unused.

Grr, my truck is surging just before the shift point and I can't seem to figure it out. Replaced nearly new fuel filter, oem fuel pump with a better one and a new air intake filter and she still does it! She's a 1997 Chev C1500 5spd V6.

Oh well, hopefully this winter's LS swap will get rid of the gremlin. Just as well I'm out of town for work until after Christmas..

I had a 96 Sierra 1500 vortec - while I didnt have that issue, try the nsmb cure from Canadian Tire - Lucas Oil Fuel System Cleaner. There's two different sized bottles available at Cdn tire, both do the same thing. I dont want to say it's a sticky injector but I doubt it's shitty gas. But on that note, Esso and Petro Can fuel have usually made my blocks have some knock/ping. Chev/Shell, not so much. Sierra included in that.

Also, if you use the fuel system cleaner, take it for a run on the highway with the heat/vents off and run it out. I passed air care in my Sierra that way by hitting a highway loop and not using 5th all that often.

I had a similar symptoms in a vehicle once. There could be air in the cooling system. A quick search on burping a coolant system on youtube will show you how its done. It's quick and easy and even better free. Worth a try before you keep throwing parts at it.

I'm the best at being modest !

Distributer…maybe some other component of the ignition…but my money would be 85% on it being the distributer. Been there, done that (on two 4.3's I own)

Before the shift point, you mean consistently at a certain rpm?

Slightly different category to the powerwagon above but this excites me greatly….
