Just saw the roughly estimated search area. It basically the middle f fucking no where. There is nothing there and is almost out of reach of satellite surveillance. And during the press info session they commented that a storm is moving int the search area and visibility is decreasing.
The RAAF are sending a total of three P3 Orion's to search the area. To give an idea of the distance involved….this would be like flying roughly from Vancouver to Toronto. Do a grid search. Then fly back the same distance all with out landing. Potentially they could search longer if the Australian P3's are air to air refuelling capable,

Did some contract stuff for hawk air, rtd, western helicraft, and westex to boot as well.

Trained as one yes. I actually dodged all aviation in the beginning as I got out of school at a shitty time, and went right into Aeroderivative gas turbine, did field service on Rolls Royce out of a Calgary. Did a lot of cool things, and been to a lot of cool (and scary/politically unstable) places. Now I'm back in Aviation at M.TU here on the Coast. Engine Line Inspector for GE and CFMI Turbofans. Basically I feel like I'm very early retirement. I may ride this gig out for as long as possible8)

The report I saw said that the debris reported, estimated to be about 70 feet in length, was from a satellite picture taken 4 days ago (thank you Courtney Love :))… the visibility has been poor and there has been a storm in the area, but the RAAF had a C130 dropping buoys but nothing actually seen or recovered so far.

Apparently the buoys the Herc is dropping are to get data to plot currents in the area to try to figure out where the debris may drift.
Too bad Tattoo isnt still around….he always spots Da Plane.
