Its funny that no other state/organization in the world does this. Isn't it?

Well, they do it most blatantly…but all their client states and allies are equally to blame for their own discretionary brutality.

The USA will only go to war when profits can been made.

Fixed that for ya.

It goes a bit further too - typically, aggression is a "war crime", so the US involves itself in Low Intensity Conflict, something that's more easy to get away with. It involves fear and terror, the usual suspects - mutilating public figures, decapitation, rape, and leaving the bodies to be found by the populous. These "efforts" are usually in order to have the subject country "comply" to the new regulations set forth by the IMF and WB. These regulations are always - on a long enough time line - to benefit the US and private investorship.

The usual reaction from any populous when it sees its rights, freedoms, lands, and safeties removed is to revolt in the form of some socialist movement, you know, "riots and protests". These people get labelled as commies and socialists and dirty hippies, and are described in media as "guerillas" or "resistance to democracy", and within short order, are targets for assassination, disappearances, death threats, or the like; on on a larger scale, imprisonment, tear gas, rubber bullets, and police brutality. All the while, the truth is being captured on film, the film gets sent to one of only a few media corporations (always politically to the right) and then gets delivered to the TV screens of averagely stupid people, to have them believe, that these bastards had it coming.

IMF always swoops in, offers tremendous funding on the grounds that the subject country:
- surrender its nationalist businesses
- surrender its agricultural businesses
- surrender its key land areas

As this process upsets a lot of people, the IMF simply withholds food, medical aid, and monetary aid until the people wither, die, and cave in. Once this has happened, the IMF has another success - the private investors come in, the uS come in with their corporations, and all the GDP ends up leaving the country as the average resident becomes an employee; always with slimming wages and lesser-than-before living conditions (keeps 'em scared this way).

It's at THIS time the profits start rolling in. And they'll go hard to ensure it gets to this point, in each and every case.

This is collateral damage? :S

No. This is an example of how they really don't give a shit about anything - including collateral damage.

Check the books - let's pull a fast fact out of the blue - how many civilians, innocents, woman and children were maimed and killed in the attack on Iraq/Saddam in the name of WMD eradication?

Answer: Exponentially more than all militarized, enemy subjects.

Oh, and there were no WMDs. Shucks… Woops!! Sorry everyone. Our bad. Carry on.

So what you're saying is during the Gulf War the US didn't go out of their way to avoid collateral damage? They didn't care about bombing civilians?

And the US ranks first in the world for foreign aid. That makes them the worst nation?

Dunno' bro'. Coulda' been that they were just really really bad at aiming their bombs, eh?

They sure had a thing for journalists though.

It's like accepting a loan from the Cosa Nostra. True story.

Only 3, like in the last 10 years? The US military has done a shitty job of its core mission of killing journalists. Taxpayers should ask for their money back. Here's a list for just this last year. Read up about how the pros do it sometime:

So what you're saying is during the Gulf War the US didn't go out of their way to avoid collateral damage? They didn't care about bombing civilians?

No, what I'm saying is (let's rephrase by asking this rhetorically) - what was their mission priority? Did they achieve this mission? And on what premise was the mission launched?

No WMD. Period.

And the US ranks first in the world for foreign aid. That makes them the worst nation?

Completely agree - they're giving aid out the whazoo.

But I'll qualify this by saying that their "Ranked 1st Aid" also comes with "Ranked 1st Conditions". And if you don't abide entirely to these conditions, see first point above about "collateral damage".

IMF and USAID are interchangeable in most instances. Purpose is always the same, outcome is always consistent. Chicago School of Economics 101.

What about the Gulf War? Incorrect premise? Huge collateral damage?

Sortc of back on topic:

LAst week I was at the local bookshop and read the first and last chapter of a book called "Escape from Camp 14". Link here.

Which Gulf War? If you wanna go toe-to-toe on this one, I'd suggest you remember chemicals were used, and do a little research on a lovely young lady named Beth Daponte. She's just one of many whose coverage of the civilian death toll was skirted and repressed due to its glaringly different numbers from, say, a truthful upstanding honest man like Cheney.

And ya, the publicized premise was VASTLY different than the administrative M.O. That's history now though, and easily researched.

There has only been one Gulf War, and I'm not into conspiracy theory.

…and I'm not into conspiracy theory.

Then that concludes any further discussion betwixt us two. There's a big difference between "unfounded conspiracies" and "facts". It's unfortunate that these "facts" I speak of aren't as readily available and served to someone such as yourself on a TV dinner platter replete with friendly commentators and "honest sources", smiling with earnest, and garnering your trust in between every commercial break. It's a shame that the "facts" I speak of aren't available in the colourful magazines that line the newsstands along with the latest from Hollywood. It's unfortunate that the "facts" I speak of are seemingly only available to people who need to spend energy, time and intellectual consideration in their process and contemplation.

For the record, academics who study "facts" (like the ones I speak of) often refer to the Iraq War of 2003 as Gulf War II, as the "premise" and its protraction were still based on the original Gulf War 1 of the early 90s. But we're not "academics" here, I assume :dizzy:
