What's the frame rate on the iPhone? The banners have the out of horizontal sync effect you see on old CRTs.

30 FPS

You did hear they sold 4 million phones this weekend… so 1214 is pretty quick!

It's all relative. On Friday I was number 100 something and now "The shipping process has begun", at least i am not standing at a store in line to get one… just waiting by a computer. What's a week here or there?

I am looking forward to using Siri

So has anyone even made a Phonecall with one of these things?

I hope the phone quality improves; it's not great on the 4.

Video stabilization seems to be very good.

I have, and it's better albeit slightly than my 3GS. In fact, I'm posting this from my new 4s now. It's fast as hell, and the graphics are so clear compared to my old phone. I'm glad I was able to upgrade.

Also, the camera is amazing. I snapped this pic after doing some work on a burm.

The same area pic taken with my 3GS has so little detail and the lighting is horrible in comparison.
Plus the new phone has zoom!

hmm, it's not is it.
It looked so good on my phone screen. Uh oh…

Let's try this one.

That's better.
For the first one I was using the zoom option. This one is pretty much raw.
That sure makes a difference in final quality.

Here's a similar pic taken at the same time with my 3GS.

The lighting is way off on the older model. The lens could be a bit dirty too.

Also, the camera is amazing compared to an etch-a-sketch.

Fixed

The second pic is better though.

I wonder how many of those 4 million people who bought 4s's are going to be pissed off when they realize that they bought a phone that was only a half-assed refresh of the existing design, that was rush released to keep stock prices from plummeting when SJ died. I think when spring rolls in and Apple releases the iPhone 5 there is going to be a lot of buyers remorse.

Not so much on my end. It's better in all ways compared to my 3.
Now, if I had a 4 and upgraded to a 4s, I'd have some buyers remorse. It's very similar to my buddie's 4.

From what I understand the processor is a pretty significant upgrade and since the rumours of this phone being released in October go back to the beginning of summer I don't think it has much to do with Jobs dying.

FYI, there is always buyers remorse when Apple comes out with the next phone.

The Nexus Prime is set to be released today/tonight at Google event in Hong Kong. Be interesting to see the official specs. The one thing I'm not sold on is the size, it seems pretty big. But with that said, I've never handled one personally (not many people have) so the true test would be how it handles in the hand. The size could turn out to be a good thing!

The other option is the HTC Rezound, but that phone won't come with the new android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich that the Nexus Prime does. Hardware is similar to the Nexus Prime, with some subtle differences. The lack of ICS makes this phone a lot less attractive then the Prime.

Then there is always the iPhone 4S. I don't really see any reason to get excited about this phone. Hardware wise it doesn't even compare to the new android phones that are coming out. As far as software goes, that's an apples vs. oranges debate, like PC vs Apple. All depends on what you are looking for, but I've never been a fan of the iPhones software. The only reason (IMO) to go to this phone is if you are really married to the iphones OS, or if you have an earlier version of the iphone and want to keep all your apps.

I have my fingers crossed for the Nexus Prime, hopefully it doesn't underwhelm. Guess we'll find out tonight.

All of the rumours that I had heard were saying that Apple was going to be releasing two phones simultaneously, one was supposed to be the new flagship (iPhone 5), and a lower priced, lower spec'd handset (the 4s). Apple insiders have even gone on record saying that Jobs didn't have any input on the design of the 4s because he was too busy working on the iPhone5.

Suspicious timing is suspicious.
