Heres some pics from Queenstown during my NZ trip over the last six months. The riding isn't as concentrated as it is here, but if you're willing to travel a bit, there are some gems for sure.
Check out Rotorua, Napier, Nelson, Christchurch, Mt Hutt, Queenstown and others. Best way to do it is get a van and travel around for a bit. You get to ride, plus do things and meet people that no other tourists get to do.
Not too sure about Aus, but NZ was well worth the trip.

ditch the bike, get a surfboard. its like some of the best in the world, it would be like if an aussie came here with a surfboard and went to tofino. forget that it makes no sense, the biking and snowboarding is like the best in the world here, and the surfing is insane down there. if you wanna bike, go to whistler or the shore. its just better. but ive been to oz, loved it, nz seems like it would be amazing, either will be epic
