For those conversions up there I think what would make a lot of sense is a motor like the Ford V6 ecoboost (turbo). The fuel mileage on those is pretty good compared to a V8 and they have decent power unless you're hauling really big loads. My brother in-law has an F150 ecoboost and it has no problems towing a 24ft trailer with the family and all their gear. In town I think he avgs around 12-14 L/100km.

I like the idea of an electric or hybrid truck, but the truck portion can't be compromised too much just to be electric. Like Adam-West said range is a big issue, and a 5ft bed with only a 1/2ton payload capacity doesn't cut it either. It seems that a full size truck in full electric mode is a long ways off yet.

^ what he said.

I am very interested in electric trucks, but for my needs the tech just isnt there yet, so ill stick with the most fuel efficient truck i can for now.

.....and yes there are drop in high powered conversions available for the truck in the first post....just dont stray too far from a charger.

Drop a Lexus LC500H hybrid system into that first truck then we'd have something unique. Ability to cruise around town on electric, then it use the ICE as needed when needed for range.

I need range, and nothing beats the ease of packing a couple extra jerry cans and away you go some more.

but im not like other truck buyers and id wager at least half of them would be fine with an electric ridgeline but thats just soooo lame

Range is coming though.  The Rivian is supposed to have a 400 mile version coming soon.  There has to be electric jerry cans coming too if they haven't already.
