Royal bank started charging me 6 dollars a month to have an account with them. Time for a new bank.

What banks/credit unions have free accounts.

You should just tell them that you're going to school - usually they offer a free "student" service for the duration of your schooling (just keep telling them your attending whatever imaginary school you want). It actually isn't a special "student" account, they just give you free banking for a while.

Works with CIBC anyways, best part is that it was the banker I went to talk to about my RRSP's who told me all about it, nice guy :)

In response to the youtube vid…

http://www.citigroup.com/citi/press/2011/111015a.htm

"A large amount of protesters entered our branch at 555 La Guardia Place, New York City, around 2 p.m. today. They were very disruptive and refused to leave after being repeatedly asked, causing our staff to call 911. The police asked the branch staff to close the branch until the protesters could be removed. Only one person asked to close an account and was accommodated."

Ya know, I genuinely understand and support a lot of what the OWS protesters are trying to say. That being, that there is a huge and growing disparity between the wealthy and the poor in most developed countries, and there is no avenue for change. Power and politics is bought and paid for and those without must do without in perpetuity.

That said, storming into a private business' place of operation and creating a disturbance is not going to help the cause.

When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called religion.

yada yada. those banks auditing themselves and inflating real estate values is what sank the USA - destroying many families' livelihoods and wiping out lifetime savings. the bank CEOs still made millions and then turned around asked and received a government handout while they plead stupidity. so, a small disturbance at such an institution that illustrates what many millions of people are feeling does help their 'cause'

i don't necessarily agree with the tactics, but have empathy for the masses 'cause'
