Putting tires on/off the rims is pretty hard on the tires … they have to use a machine to stretch the hell out of 'em. Not so bad to swap once or twice, but changing out every season not so great.

Just get cheapie rims for the winters already, as has been recommended.

was the last time 1972?

$80 isn't so bad really. You might spend an entire day on the phone and save another $10.

I had 4 snow tires, bought 4 steel rims from Kal-tire and they swap em for free every year.

That would have worked if she would have done that when she bought the snow tires.

Unless she wants to run her summer tires on the steel rims, she will have to have 8 tires mounted and balanced.

probably more than $80.

Something to think about for next year.

Meh.

I bet if she rolls into Kal-tire and tells them what she has, and buys 4 steel rims, they'll swap tires and rims onto whatever combo she liks and get the "we'll swap them every year deal".

It's a hook to get customers to stay with them (and it's worked for me - I bought my truck snow tires and rims from them because of it).
