This has already been done.

If you do SSD, it will be really easy to move the OS partition to the SSD drive.

Time will tell if it was the right choice and I can always upgrade it in a few months.

There currently isn't much more processing power than what you bought. And even if your processor was twice as fast, gaming speed would likely be similar. The bottleneck is the video card.

A powerful video card is also great for media manipulation. It's pretty impressive to see how much faster transcoding is with a good video card and an app that takes advantage of it.

You made the right choice.

So how much does one have to spend for a decent system to play d3?

My laptop is on its last legs after running too many FEA simulations on it for my project this month. Want a decent box anyways.

I'm sure one of you could easily notify me of my required budget minimum.

ps, self installation not an issue

I spent 12000 yuan on mine on the dot. Wether or not that would be a good deal in Canada, or how much that even is in canadian dollars, I have no idea.

D3 isn't exactly a resource heavy game, you can get away with it on a super cheap budget.

Pick up an i5 2500k and a decent video card and you'll max it out no problems.

Is anyone on NBR playing EVE?

I am looking for a new alliance at the moment. I stopped playing in 0.0 because my comp was too shitty. Now I have three strong characters, two accounts and an unshitty computer.

I'm ready for nullsec madness.

It's almost $2K Canadian.

So what would a build like mine cost in Canada?

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if you guys could get the same stuff a little cheaper. Only knock off, shitty electronics are cheap here. Anything good seems to cost more than it would in a more developed country.

For $2k Canadian I could build a system with a lot better CPU than a Core i7-2600 and a GTX560 video card…

More like a Core i7 3770 (Ivy Bridge) with a GTX680 2GB video card, 16GB RAM, really nice case, a good quality 850W 80+ PFC Gold rated power supply, etc.

I think you just haven't found the best local market for x86 PC stuff yet. China is awash in it, it's all manufactured there (except Intel CPUs, which come from diverse places like Costa Rica, Malaysia, Oregon, etc). Unlike the Apple products someone mentioned previously in the threads there's no artificial geographical restrictions on the products imposed by their manufacturers.
