I looked up Port Moody (my area) and our current Mayor, who is running again, isn't even listed. The bike hub site makes it look like we should vote for Gaetan but in fact, Mike Clay is not only in favour of biking in general, but has proven to be a big supporter of mountain biking.

Please don't base your decision solely on this website. It certainly seems to be lacking info.

Ya, Mike Clay is a good dude.

Is there a Vancouver in Taiwan?! I had no idea!!

Nothing sums up my life's achievements like my stuffed corpse, suplexing a cougar.

lol "gay injection"

lol anyone who actually believes there could be a gay injection.

I was talking to my grandma a couple days ago, and she was telling me about this BS.

I guess if people are willing to believe that a shot can give you autism, it isn't all that surprising that a shot can give you the gay as well.

That's the problem with cities, they're refuges for the weak, the fish that didn't evolve.

I don't want to google this - sounds like a thing that NSMB will be better at.

No affiliation with HUB (although I'm a member of a few of their Yahoo groups where I commute through) but my guess is the info they list is from people that responded to their survey.

the pace of densification is too fast

I read an article in the NS News a couple of days ago which said the North Shore (or maybe it was North Van District) has the lowest population growth rate of any municipality in the Lower Mainland.

Edit: Here it is

http://www.nsnews.com/news/north-vancouver-traffic-help-on-the-way-walton-1.1432314

Despite the perception in North Van district right now, for the last five years, our average growth rate has been .7 per cent. That's about the lowest in Metro Vancouver. It's much lower than anywhere else.

Basically, Walton claims that any municipality that halts growth is committing economic suicide, as provincial and federal funding gets redirected to municipalities that are growing faster.

For everyone griping about BC Ferries, did you know that your municipal elected officials always (or should always) attend the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention?

At the most recent convention, the UNANIMOUSLY passed this motion:

This was widely reported in thew news, and highlights yet again the importance of local government.

I was referring to CNV which, I believe, is about 2% per year.

There are only really 2 points of entry/exit from the North Shore so slow growth is justified. Add more bandwidth and we can discuss increasing the population.

The raw, primitive, unrefined trails that see little to no maintenance are the kinds of trails that really build skill. What kind of skills do you learn riding a trail that was made by a machine, groomed to perfection and void of any rocks, roots or other obstacles that could send you careening over the handlebars?

Viewpoint from Dogwood Initiative…..

"A nasty, shallow campaign has fuelled widespread voter apathy. Kinder Morgan and other huge corporations are getting away with spending unlimited money. And sure enough, the NPA[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s Kirk LaPointe is surging ever closer toward victory on Saturday.

Last week one poll had LaPointe just four points behind incumbent mayor Gregor Robertson [HTML_REMOVED]#8211; and climbing. That concerns me, because while Robertson has fought Kinder Morgan tooth and nail, LaPointe refuses to take a position on the Texas company[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s massive oil tanker proposal, saying we should trust the federal process and passively accept the outcome.

Do you know who LaPointe[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s campaign guru is? Dimitri Pantazopoulos. Best known as the BC Liberal pollster who predicted Christy Clark[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s crushing victory in 2013, Pantazopoulos cut his teeth working for the Republicans in Washington DC and Stephen Harper in Ottawa. He[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s a pro-oil Conservative mercenary.

Last year a leaked video from a luxury homebuilders[HTML_REMOVED]#8217; meeting in Calgary outlined a plan to parachute Pantazopoulos into the Calgary municipal election. Funded by a $1.1 million war chest collected from construction bosses, his assignment was to take down their progressive political enemies on council.

Pantazopoulos doesn[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;t work cheap, and his clients don[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;t often lose. He[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s been working on the NPA campaign for more than a year. Now he[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;s poised to do for Kirk LaPointe what he did for Christy Clark: pull off a stunning upset while most of the electorate is sleepwalking."
