modern trucks and the tacoma mystique

there's no denying how good modern trucks are, even at their high prices.  i like the idea of a full size for a number of reasons, partly is my own size, partly is the added utility i would get out of it. i'm only interested in trucks with considerable off road credentials, but nothing like a Raptor. it's frustrating looking at these models based on how companies interpret what someone like me wants from a style perspective. the Ram Rebel is by all accounts, an awesome vehicle with great features, performance and overall design, but the name, interior and badging is pure cheese. it's fucking terrible. who in their right mind would be seen wearing clown shoes like this?  so they ruined what could have been a top choice for me.

the Tacoma (and my old Frontier) is one of the only trucks that looks good, has solid performance and quality, and has understated off road styling and colours that appeal to so many of my peers. but i'd feel like a sheeple to be joining the Taco state of mind club....   the new Titan Pro4 x has appeal but they've bought into the over styled bs look as well.

it's like this overt macho looks gets carried away every ten years or so and we're at peak gold chains and open shirt right now in the truck world.

The new taco isn't even that good, a 3.6 that makes all it's power at like 6 thousand rpm, and a transmission that doesn't have a clue what it wants to do, drum brakes in the back lmao. They do look cool though, but I just don't see the value in the truck compared to what you'd pay for an equal frontier, it's all just Toyota tax based on the hype of previous models. I do like the new 4 runners though.

Meanwhile Ford introduces the new ranger.. and it looks awfully like the Honda Ridgeline.. gee I wonder why that ain't selling well.

I like the Colorado zr2 but even it is kinda dorky looking, at least it seems somewhat capable.

I'm not holding my breath for the new frontier, from what I've heard they're really hyped up on throwing more technology into it. Which probably means theyll more electro gizmos that nobodies actually asking for.

Id have a raptor in a heartbeat even if it is a Ford.

People should refuse to buy any new car or truck unless it's electric assist.

yeah the Taco has some strange choices of equipment and some major shortcomings. you'd think they would know exactly what the public wants and have addressed them by now.

the ZR2 is supposed to be a great performer. i test drove one and found the seats lacking and no driver side grab handle on the pillar. in a ZR2. think about that. in a high performance off road truck. no grab handle. that's a sale breaker right there for me.

Or the e-F-150.  And the Atlis.  There should be some choices for the wealthy pick up driver soon.

I drove a f-150 Raptor for a fisherman last week, the 478 hp of V6 twin turbo power,  sounded like a hot V8, the sound, the acceleration, the price  ... incredible !

I was sitting in a tacoma last week,  3 of the 4 guys inside could buy whatever, they were tacoma owners and the carpenter had an old work truck

Can you imagine Hockey Night in Cda w/o those obnoxious ads pimping gaz guzzling pickups?

The mother corp engages all kinds of behaviour modification techniques in its programing, surely only allowing ads that depict Sunday drivers in hybrid/plug-in/electric vehicles falls within their purview.

Find a plane base model F-150 4x4 with an ecoboost then add the wheels and tires you want. The simple black grill looks way better than the chromed out garage queens.
