Everyone likes to compare MMA against boxing.

They say that this kind of stuff happens all the time in boxing, around the weigh-in scales, so why shouldn't we expect it here?

I think like the final days of a Bad Teenage Mustache, MMA is nearing the end of its growing in phase so this kind of thing isn't as damning as it could have been. MMA fights are getting sanctioned in more places than ever, and fight reviews and columns are appearing on the Globe and Mail.

I've seen worse at football, soccer, baseball and hockey games.

Sure it makes Professional MMA athletes look like hormonal overpaid moron, but all professional athletes look like hormonal overpaid morons to me.

But isn't professional fighting about setting up a fair fight between 2 competitors? If the 2 wanted to go at it during the weigh-in I'd say whatever, but this looked a bit different. I thought it was only bar-fighting gang-bangers who kick a guy, 7 on 1 while he's down on the ground?

In case nobody caught the details, that whole Henderson fight and the theatrics after was staged. I mean come on, Henderson getting worked that bad? That's ridiculous. Strikeforce is trying to compete with ufc so having eruptions like that draws an audience. I didn't buy any of it.

Only if it involved beer+ random ghb/acid/crystal meth in the beer + a super D
race on chainless bikes.

I think it might be all the other "non-UFC" companies trying for the WWE audience.
I think UFC can/should stay the course as far as bringing us real fights with "mostly"
real emotions. But I think other networks like CBS/ABC think they need to bring the
entertainment factor in to keep an audience. But hopefully it won't get all WWE
on us, because that would turn off a lot of people that watch MMA for the fights not the drama.
