7" and 9" tablets. For less than $300. Which is the best? Which to avoid! School me, people!

Also, does anyone know of an Android tablet that can do composite video or HDMI output through an add-on or adapter?

I think the 7" Blackberry ones are in that price range and they have HDMI out.

Skip the Acers - they are pretty crappy. The one I tried was broken in less than 2 weeks so I switched it for a Samsung.

Also there is a fair amount of difference in screen size between 7" and 9". 7" is obviously a more compact but the 9" screen is easier for viewing. Which size is better for you depends on how you think you'll use it.

Nexus 7 hands down under $300. Nothing else comes close.

That being said it doesn't do composite or HDMI output. Pretty sure some of the other ones do have a dedicated HDMI out port such as the 7" Samsung and Toshiba tablets.

It looks like Best Buy has a list specifically for tablets with HDMI outputs. Might help you out.

Right here.

It works really well on the Galaxy Nexus. Likely even better on the Nexus 7.

I have a galaxy tab 7.7 that I traded some water cooling parts for. New it is way over your budget but you might find one used in that price range. Fits in my dress pants pocket so I carry it as my main phone at work, perfect size for my needs.

I used my Playbook off the wifi hotspot created through my iPhone 4 in Osoyoos to watch a World Cup DH race.

Playbook 16gb was $199 at Future Shop
