you lookin to just chill by the pool or do you want get off the resort property and do stuff? nice beach important?
Go to Cozumel. Hit the Bob Marley bar and the beaches on the windward side of the island.
You looking for a resort near the high crime rates or one that's been built substandard and avoided inspections with greasy cash deals?
Kn.

I liked the Riviera Maya.

Lots to do, cheap to get around, nice beach and Playa del Carmen has lots of great places to eat if you get tired of eating your hotels food.

Agreed. Mayan Riviera was great. I stayed at a nice all-inclusive right near Tulum, the Bahia Principe. Nice, clean resort, decent beach. Close to the ruins at Tulum, Play del Carmen. We did a day trip out an saw the ruins at Coba, did some swimming in underground cenotes, repelling and zip-lines. Did another trip down to Xel-Ha and swam in the waters there with some amazing fish. It's like you're in an aquarium.
Wasn't too expensive and was 4 star. IIRC it was Air Transat doing packages down there.
definitely go to mazatlan
nice beach is important. i will find a place to rent scooters and head off the grounds
You're gonna need a fat chick to go with that scooter
Mayan Riviera. Barcelo Maya. 5 star and freakin' awesome. Close to Xel-ha and Tulum ruins.Food better than most.Beach very nice.

Second on the Barcelo Maya Beach resort recommendation.
We stayed at the Grand Palladium a few years ago and didn't think it was as good.

We did the same day trip too….nice little sampler pack of what the Yucatan has to offer.
Isle Mujeres is a decent day trip or head over to Cozumel and rent a Jeep for the day.
