so same tire and 3 different prices are we sure the pricing is for the exact model of tire ???

I just did a mailorder thru MEC and the price was comparable to Jensens and the delivery was a 2 weeks quicker

yeah but that's us$, so it's about $87 cdn.

Shit. You are correct. Still cheaper though.

I chucked my MEC card a few years ago. I used to make a special trip to the one on Broadway just to buy bike tools, tubes and the odd part. Not much point anymore.

Edit: Just went through and ordered a set and it came out in CAD.

And now may I introduce an alternative

Not a replacement but for many things a great savings.

I like the cheap tubes at MEC.

Is that what it would take to cure you of your ridiculous end times conspiracy theory fantasies?

wow, cool! when i looked at the site it showed cdn at the top in the currency option box so i checked to see what the price was in usd and it said the same as well as showing usd next to the amount. when i switched back to cdn, the usd next to the price was gone but it didn't say cdn next to the price so i figured there was something up with the website. that's a 30% difference which is pretty big for an independent shop to be beating a large chain retailer like mec.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

MEC, like anywhere, is hit and miss. The internet makes price comparisons easier and every retailer has to adapt. The problem with MEC, is that they are trying to cater to all of Canada (when it comes to what they carry for bikes.) But tires that work in Ontario aren't necessarily what works here.

Wrong. Always.

I am not going to tell someone how to run their store, they definately have better information than I do, but I used to shop almost exclusively at MEC for everything. Now it is really hit and miss. I am also not buying anything there unless it is already on sale.

Some things are cheaper some are not, Shimano xc spd pedals are pretty cheap, dry suit gaskettes are cheap so is aqua seal

The thing with MEC is they don't really put stuff on sale altho I got [HTML_REMOVED]40% off on dynafit verticals cuz they were a discontinued product …awesume score!

where they used to have more core hi perofrmance out door gear they seem to moving towards something you would wear to go for coffee in kits or running on the seawall

A bricks [HTML_REMOVED] mortar MEC is 800kms south so I will buy enough stuff some of which I know I probably won't keep just to get free shipping and return it all when I get to a store once a year

some of you sound kind of entitled and so you are entitled … to find a better deal

like ski boots in Chermany 67% off!

TBS Bike Parts $65.00

With link: https://www.tbsbikeparts.com/maxxis-dhr-ii-exo-27-5-tire/

I know that's an online price but there's no MEC near me so buying from them would have to be online anyways.

Tore a sidewall and needed a replacement ASAP so mailorder was out of the question ….
