Any of you guys come across a stock exhaust from a '96 to '17 Suzuki DR 650 please let me know .

I'm looking to gut the can and make a tool box mounted to make it look like the bike has a dual exhaust .

The stock exhaust system has a rep of being quite the boat anchor , so it is quite common to ditch it in favor of something ( much ) lighter .

You may want too stop by the VSM shop on Powell Street. That could be something they have lying around.

How am I only finding this thread now?

I love riding my 899 around the North Shore and Van. I use it as a rain or shine commuter (12 months a year minus the snow storm days) and another way to have fun that I dont seem to be getting in cars anymore.

The bike has been great. I love the electronics as I can pretty much go out in crap weather and the bike will stay upright. Its comfortable. Gives me boners. But isnt fast enough to scare me. Its a great streetbike.

My third bike. Previous two were supermotos (2009 WRX and 2010 Duke 690). Super fun but I wanted a change. Everynow and then I think about getting an SM again….

Its gotta be raining pretty hard to take the car - and Ive got a sweet car! This bike puts a smile on my face like no other vehicle Ive had yet has.

Wow, that's a helluva rain or shine bike. I did the same thing for 40k miles on my orange 625sxc with enduro and sumo hoops. The rain took its toll on linkage and swingarm bearings but it was worth it!

I feel that life is too short to worry about that kind of thing - but it is parked inside at both ends so its just the time spent on the road where it gets wet. And I rinse it off and dry it if needed.

I agree with you - ride what makes you happy when you're riding and figure the rest out! If it was a sunny day only bike it wouldnt have left the garage since July!

So far the bike has taken whatever weather its been out in like a champ. Id love to do a shorter tour next summer - Kelowna or something.

Cant say I've seen a rack like that before. :damn:
I'm hoping to get another summer on my 420 hour rfs top end, 2007 450 exc.
Still 3 turns left on valves and not going through a ton of oil.
I should have drove it down to DH when the dollar was at par.
At this point just dont know if Its worth it to rebuild or just get a slightly used 500.

I'm 600+ hrs on my '07 525 original top end, still runs well and intakes had 2.75 turns last I checked. It's totally worth rebuilding yours, even with exchange. That 400 on the back of the truck had Dave's hands through the motor, should go another 500 hrs easy.

Rack is a Joe Hauler. Hurley FSR approved with 2 bikes on it and 10ply tires.
