I've got a nagging interest in getting a dirtbike. Havent ridden one since I was a kid, so not an experienced rider at all. My primary interest is burning around in the mountains on logging roads and easier to moderately difficult trail riding. Id prefer fast and smooth over slow and tech most of the time. Im curious what more experienced people would ride/recommend? I would likely be shopping for something second-hand, no more than 5 years old. Budget is not the main concern.

With no moto experience, I bought a trials bike last winter. Its been fun to ride [HTML_REMOVED] its definitely satisfying to make it up a big rock slab, but I was enjoying faster trail riding the most. After a little bit of searching, I just picked up this:

Its a 2009 KTM 250 XC 2-stroke. I'm really enjoying exploring the logging roads here in Squamish [HTML_REMOVED] I'm finding the technical trails a lot less intimidating than I thought they'd be, coming from the little trials bike.

Anyone want to buy a trials moto?

Hey Bryan,

Its a 2010 Gas Gas Raga 280. Nice condition, regularly serviced [HTML_REMOVED] lots of preventative maintenance done.

Probably looking for $4500. Not sure whether I'm selling it yet though.

It'll be up on 99 Trials Facebook page if [HTML_REMOVED] when its ready to go.

If you don't need the cash I would keep it. That's a nice bike that will hold its value for awhile yet….plus its always nice to get out for a trials ride for a change of pace from the moto.

Nothing beats big alpine deep bluebird sled days

But I think I'll use this more than I did my sled. It's Crazy fun in the trees

Also pumped for plated dual sport action

I'm looking for some info on dirt bike riding in the Kamloops area.

Does anyone have any intel on the Inks Lake area? How high are the trails [HTML_REMOVED] how early does the snow usually clear? I'm looking at getting away for a weekend with some buddies in April/May.

Any other recommendations for interior riding spots? Squamish trails are great, but it'd be good to ride somewhere a bit more open [HTML_REMOVED] spend some more time on the pipe :)

Cheers!

Duffy Lake on Greenstone Mtn; on the other side of the Hwy as Inks. Apparently the very lowest trails are open now.

None of the good single track is open yet, too much snow. There is good riding in Barnhartvale but it is a small area.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like I'm staying coastal for the next few weeks at least.

Does anyone have any info on Onion Lake near Lytton? When do those trails open up?

Cheers!

We usually go up to onion may long weekend and while the riding is good one needs to expect to run into a ton of downed trees(usually taken care of with a small saw) and a bit of snow on the higher trails.

I've heard that bear creek is pretty decent right now.

onion would be big snow and downed trees for some time, although you could probably ride the lower trails early. best to wait a bit IMO

I had my best day yet on the snowbike Friday and rode the trials bike at eagle today. last week it was Mcnutt [HTML_REMOVED] the snowbike,,Brapp

This hot weather has me thinking a Friday Vedder ride might be in order if anyone wants to get out
