i have one but its only been so so . first day out the screen cracked mec warrantied it but really the screen is pretty fragile, i now keep it in a peleican case.
second time i used it up in the shulaps it died on the second day. was fixed by the tech guy with a firmware update but it sure dosnt give me a heap of confidence that it will be there when I need it.
its also too bad the service plan is quite a bit more expensive in canada than the us.

That sucks Rat! Broken screen I knew that but I keep mine on the outside of my pack and have not had an issue, I have a neoprene case for it now that floats it and protects it, we have 4 of them and not one has been an issue, texting between them is free and since the service package is in the USA it is more money and hopefully they have a Canadian service plan soon. Let us know if u have any more issues, firmware updates are common but it should affect how it works, dave

Can you not sign up for the US service plan?

You get assigned a number and it is a us one I believe so ur getting us charges when u use it, but there are new and coming g down the pipe, the two way texting between devices is free and it is the best thing for this device other than the fact if the shit hits the fan, like when we r sledding if the two groups have one u just text if u need to find each other, as we all know how much time e waste doing that now and the two radios suck usually.

It would be cool if your freinds had them for the two way texting. Im not complaining ,just hoping i dont have more problems with it. The tech support is excellent, they obviously stand by the product.
Simply for the sos function these units are worth the money and the inreach has alot of extra features. The one i like is that my wife can ping my unit and see where i am without me sending an ok.
So just send the unit out with some friends and your good for a day in the bar?
