Ossa Explorer. Perfect BC bike?

74kg 280 fuel injected 2 smoke. Mostly based on a trials bike with a higher seat and larger tank. Slightly different gearing than a trials bike.

Anyone have a spare $7650 they want to loan me and I'll test if it really is the perfect cross-over bike for BC trails and trials.

For $7560 you can have a dual sport, trials bike and light enduro. That's if you shop wise ;-)

For the guys talking trials tires…Mitas trials tires work just fine, had one on my Montesa for a long time. The MT43 is the one suited for a plated enduro, DOT legal and all. Plus, thicker (yes, less flexible) sidewall and less chunk-able tread than the spendy Mich or Dunny radials. I ran one for a season on my woods bike and while great for rock, root and chunder it sucked in mud and steep loose ground. I went Motoz and am not looking back.

Yes Ned.

I have a 2001 KTM 200 that cost me [HTML_REMOVED]$1500 and I eat $10000 bikes all day in the trails.

I also have a sweet 85 XRL250(Japan model) plated for $40/mo for getting groceries.

I just picked up a 96 XR400r that rages the medium trails and is plated( offload model) and cost me $1800.

3 super fun bikes for $4800. Easily find a decent trials bike for $3000.

Lots of little things to fix always tho haha.

Tinker tinker. Half the fun bru.

As Harper would say " It's the Wizard not the Wand". Haha

Same line works for all you tiny penis fellas.

How did you get the 400 plated? or was it always plated/regied and it has been kept plated its whole life? Do you have a baja kit with signals on it? That would be a perfect Goldbridge/belly boat/ bike. Jelous. Post a pick i will be green like the hulk with envy. I would need to have a garage to pull that quiver off as well.

The guy I sold my 96 to on the Island plated it after I sold it to him. This would have been in 07 so before they really started cracking down on the RUM bikes. Someone in the lower mainland ended up buying the bike and was turning it into a supermotard. The guy was cruising pics on Thumpertalk and came across an old pic I posted.

A plated xr400 would be pretty sweet for open trails / mixed logging road.

We'll see what happens at the end of the summer. New house, renovations, and a mtb trip to Peru are inline before a bike. Keeping a close eye for a cheap old trials bike.

XR250 sold

KLR650 for sale
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/mcy/3031825159.html

Loved both bikes, but 3 bikes and a quad is too much.

So I'm looking for a plated 400 with a magic button..DRZ maybe? There's a nice street model (s) converted to the souped up off-road version (E) in WA.
Or even another XR400, plated this time.
The KLX250s is also a contender when it's uncorked.

I can ride to the ride then, and avoid all gnarl (like that's a change anyway!!).
I reckon Bear will be 90% ok, same for Lytton. And as for my favourite US places, Colville will be 100% (loads of flow there), but Entiat might suffer a bit.

Not a bad call on the DRZ as long as someone else unloaded their wallet into it. I hopped on one after 55000km's of riding my 625SXC endurotard, and while a little homely, the feedback from riding it for 5000km thusfar is that it's smooth and the chassis handles well. Cheap as dirt to buy, insure and run too.

How? This:

The guy I sold my 96 to on the Island plated it after I sold it to him. This would have been in 07 so before they really started cracking down on the RUM bikes.

Grandfathered bikes can still be plated. If you buy a used bike that hasn't been plated, you've got no chance. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that changes in the next 10 years. All it takes is an inspection process (completely paid for by the owner by fees) rolled out by the provincial gov't. Could work just like the RIV program. Woudn't take much.

My XR400 was plated by the previous owner. I used it off-road for a couple of years, then plated it - no problem since I had the reg. It sucks for slow tight stuff and high-speed highway use. Everything inbetween is stellar.
