Anyone on here ride a KTM EXC 350?

I haven't had any bikes with motors in 10 years and this thing seems like the best of what I'm looking for. Something I can rip up to the grocery store on or throw in the back of the truck when we go camping.

Stripped the CR500 down a little today… Can't beleive how good of shape this thing is in. Cylinder and piston look and measure perfect (.010" bored over before it was parked for 20 years). Crank is tight and the tranny fuild looked good so I won't be splitting the cases. All the rubber/plastic bits and pieces are in good shape, Torn between doing a complete restoration and selling it off, or just putting it back together and riding it. Could turn over a good profit by restoring it properly. The air cooled '83 and '84's seem to be a cult within a cult…

Holy crap… You'd dominate the stoplights on a 2T 500cc motard!

You'd be a local legend!

It's a race bike with lights, high maintenance. Really nice ride though. KTM has had some real bugs with the 350 motor. It will be a great bike once they get it sorted. I am thinking of getting the 2013.

Oh and good luck finding one on the showroom floor. They are sold out everywhere.

I can do the maintenance myself so that's not a big deal. I've heard about issues with the FI that scare me a bit.

There is at least one in Edmonton that I know of and I saw 2 in a shop out in the Valley last weekend.

Any one got a good woods bike for sale? Targeted at a newbie. No fire breathing race machines.

KDX with a KX fork and softer springs.

nope, not for sale.

and onepunch - when buying your first bike, make sure it has a VIN on the headtube and engine, and do a VIN search on it to make sure it's not stolen. Get the sellers name, address and DL #. Sounds obvious, but don't ask how I know.

There's a couple Honda 90's XR200's on craigslist at the moment. Great reliable woods bike. I got back into trailbike riding last summer and picked one up and really like it. Great newbie bike, definitely not a speed demon though.

I picked up a Husky TE last year, suits me awesome and can be had for a few grand less than KTM, depending on what displacement you want and what you can find in stock.

Higher maintenance than a street bike, but definitely lower maintenance/higher reliability than a full-on mx bike (speaking from expensive experience).

whoa i dont like the sounds of why you know all this info. Nasty story in there some where?
Its not for me, i have the said firebreather, heart breaking two smoke RM 250. I swear to god it is faster to 40k an hour than my old VRF 750. It is scary fast and rank. Way to rank for a rookie. Im looking for a friend, he needs a KDX, or xr, or something with a friendlier powerband.
