Gaerne SG-10 or Alpinestar Tech 10….which one is better or do you prefer?

I guess SG12 should be in there too

My Gaerne's are the best boot I have owned to this point.

You guys seen this yet? KTM Freeride 350… Looks cool, kind of a hybrid moto/trials bike

I like the idea…. but 99kg (217lbs) and only 24hp??? Also says it's road legal. I would think it would be probably hard to trials ride a road geared bike…no?

I dunno….to heavy and tall geared (I'm guessing) for trials… not enough jam for the big trails…. only 24hp for road use? Seems to have a lot of shortfalls.

I see what your saying.Could that be a misprint? 34HP seems more what a motor that size could target.
If you look at all the scooter ripping around Van, and it could double as a very capable off road weeknd warrior, it might appeal to a lot more people in that sense. In Van, these scooters only get in a highway scenario if they are crossing a bridge, and they often do so like a pedal cyclist. They may do some kind of tricky two range trany, but i doubt it at that weight?
Also, i doubt a trials tire (looks like it any how) could ever be DOT certified.

WTF, Over?

No, I have seen the 24hp figure elsewhere as well. I think this bike would be the perfect mountain commuter type of thing, no you arent going to do full on trial with it, nor are you gonna ride moto, but if you just wanna cruise some single track and fire roads it seems pretty perfect.

And pirelli's trials tire is DOT certified

The 5th gear of a trials bike is a transport gear for roads. Scorpa makes a similar bike called the T-ride

Im also betting you can uncork it with a new pipe and other mods and add 8hp to pretty quick if it is set up to be plated. pretty cool machine for sure, also key would some suspension between a trials bike 6.7 inches and a full moto travel.

Weather for tomorrow looks pretty good. I am thinking I'll get out for a ride and figured I'd see if anyone is interested in going. Don't care where, although I am limited by my lack of skills.

It says it's a detuned 350 so probably pretty easy getting it back to a regular 350

Had the opportunity to put some time on a 350 SX-F. I'm not sure why anyone would want to detune it unless you had gearing to counteract it. It's a pretty anemic powerplant even in the SX form…espacially in the lower rpm range.

Bike like that could be pretty sweet around here. Just enough similarity to a trials bike to get up into the alpine on the trials trails. Would be great in the Chilcotins, nice on technical tight singletrack. Plated so you could have fun zipping to work if you don't have to use Hwy 1.

I wouldnt bet on that, looks to be more moto than trials. the key would be how the suspension is set up. you certainly wouldnt get it up disnelyand.

after riding the trials bike all summer I dont see riding the big bike much other than Kamloops/lytton trips and the odd time down here. starting to prefer it even in on moto trails like McNutt and Vedder
