Depends on the deal. I was shopping for either a KTM300xc or YZ250 when I saw my local dealer slashed the price and I had it for $7k out the door. But there are a ton of good deals on used YZ's out there. Bryon Enns just picked one up for dirt cheap and the bike only had a few hours on it. There are some on Craigslist that pops up once in a while for cheap. Since this bike has been around forever, the aftermarket support is huge. You can make this bike into anything you want.

I just bought a white plastic kit so I can pose a little better.

RM250's are good bikes too. Their engines were copied off the YZ engine and are virtually the same. The good part about the RM is how well it handles. The bad part is the stock clutch is kinda suspect, although my friend went 3 years on one and he's a fucking mad man.

Wayne, I know they changed the frame in 2006, is the older frame pretty much the same?

2005 is when they went to aluminum. 2004 and prior was steel. My clarke tank was designed for the steel frame but it fits the aluminum one too.

2006 is when they went to SSS suspension and ti parts everywhere. After that was minor changes.

So if you're looking, buy a 2006 or newer.

Scott Velez has one on his yuppy mobile and it seems to work well.

Because the wife is 5'2" and 120 lbs and she'll want to ride when I'm at work. Sure she might be able to get her bike into the truck, but she'll have a tuff time getting it into her Jeep. When she goes riding, I'd like her last worry to be loading and un-loading the bike. I think her CRF weighs more then my Yz….so that doesn't help either.

Ahh…..ok.

The one shown above is Dave's bike carrier. Very fancy because it tilts and there is no need to carry the loading ramp.

Rat ended up getting a different one and it is your basic aluminum rack. The loading ramp is separate so there is an extra piece to carry around.

As far as ease of loading, Dave's rack is probably easier to use for your wife.

I saw a 2 bike one and wow, I don't know how good I would feel about driving around with one of those loaded up.

I've been using this one to haul around an RM 250. It is pretty solid, and the price is right. I paid $150 for it a few months ago, but it looks like it is on sale for $75 right now.

here's my old one. $180 from hitchco or burnaby hitch?? cant go wrong at that price.
call them up and tell them your from coast mountain bus co and they'll give u a discount.
