Tire pressure….whats a good starting point?
Wayne or any Yamaha owners, whats a good starting point for suspension settings. figure ~180 or so with gear.
What everyone else said - 10psi in the back is the magic number, 12-15 up front is good enough for traction and preventing flats.
I'm about your weight, so here's what I did with my shockers. Super cheap and easy and very effective. On my old YZF I changed out the stock oil to 2.5wt and backed off my compression all the way. Much better, in fact almost perfect. Then I raised the fork legs up in the clamps about 5-7mm to help the bike turn. You can also move your rear wheel back all the way in the sliders to put more weight on the front wheel, but that's regarding turning.
I backed off the high speed comp on the rear shock a bit, and also backed off the preload ring a little. Can't remember what my rebound was at. The shock is pretty damn good bone stock, so it doesn't take much.
I just put 1.4kg pressure springs in my YZ's fork (stock is 2.1kg). Huge difference off the start of the travel, especially combined with the 2.5wt oil. Now I can play with my compression clickers, which are set at 6 clicks in.
First thing I would do is change the oil to 2.5wt. The stock Yamaha oil is like $40/litre and kinda shitty, so just go get some motul fork oil or something.
