I am no boxing aficionado, but I expected Connor to do far worse.
I did too, but I think part of that was Mayweather being so lame. I think if you put Connor in with any contending fighter near his prime, he get's annihilated. I'm not bagging on Connor. He stuck his chin in there and took some punches from arguably the greatest fighter of a generation, and he got himself paid. Though, I was glad when dude stopped it when he did.
I feel like the fans demanded this fight and were really the reason it happened at all. I'm curious to know whether the people that really wanted to see this, feel satisfied with the results. What did they want to see? Did this in some way validate the MMA to the boxing world (or vice versa), or do people just feel duped? Without understanding what the motivations were, I think I'd feel duped.
