Good luck. You will either have to know 1032403204020420 union members, wait in line for 5 hours when they release applications, or wait till the next hiring fair. Then once you get hired you have to go down to the union hall each day and see if theres work for the newbs.

Can you also lift more than 50 pounds?

its a shitty job where you work with shitty people…

money isn't much of a reward when you hate your job and the people you work with

i was an electrician in the longshoreman union and i hated it but thats me.
if your up for it just go down to the hall at victoria and powell and fill out an application, if your flexible on where and when you work you can get your hours to become fulltime fairly fast.

^They give out 50 applications at a time and only during select seasons.

When you start you will most likely be working days, but casuals get an average of 150 hours a year. (averages out to 15k a year)

3 of my in-laws were/are longshoreman. Not hard to make 70-80k, there are better jobs, but not too many IMO. One used to tie up ships (on call) for the last 5 yrs before he retired. 1 ship = 4 hrs. Nice work if you can get it.

No, just exploring my options. I am also thinking about law enforcement and firefighting, but I found those through reseraching on the internet so I don't need to ask the members here.:)
