We have a 2010 4Runner limited. Its nice to drive, handles great around town but not so nice on the highway (twitchy). Definitely drives better than anything else in its class I test drove. Visibility is a non issue IMO, its no worse than most modern vehicles. Power seats help with that, as they can be raised and lowered.

We took it down to SF and back, pulling a 5000lb trailer and it did ok.

If I could figure out how to turn off the traction control I would like it a lot more. Hard to get it to slide around snowy corners without alarms sounding and the wheels going into lock down.

I test drove the new Explorer. My god what a shitty car.

I have read about the traction control on the 4Runner having too much control and can be an issue.

Apparently the Pathfinders have a transmission issue. One of the cooling lines from the transmission runs through the radiator and can crack/leak and then you have coolant in the transmission.

I agree about the Explorer.

We are down to a 2007-2009 Sequoia or a 2010-2011 Tahoe. What do you guys think?

I would go with a Tahoe. Toyotas full size trucks still aren't as good as late model GM trucks.

I'll say this…dollar for dollar, Chev/GMC trucks and vans from about '97ish+ absolutely kill it. Unless a guy really needs something smaller in size…the Yukon/Tahoe is a best buy. The 5.3ltr in particular is best by a mile….very good power and the best fuel usage/power ratio. Best Tranny ratios too.

If a full size van is seriously up for consideration…3/4ton AWD Express/Savanna's are out there, but quite rare it seems. Anyways…very easy to up the tire size by 1 or 2.
Or find the mintiest E350 you can and installing 4x4 is easy…any competent shop can do it. 100% bolt on. Just ask if anyone needs deets on that.

There is this right up here in Kamloops btw(can't recall if I dropped that in one of the other threads)

on the Taco if you hold down the traction control button for a couple seconds it disables the traction control but all the anti-skid stuff is still active.

you have to be at a complete stop and hold the button for like 10 seconds (seems to take forever) and then it will disable all the computer stuff and you are free to drift and pull donuts as you wish.

or that is what it seems like.

would be nice if all cars had something similar.

^ I gotta try that on my GXP. There's a button for the traction control, but the stability control is still on. I'ma just hold the button down and see what happens…lol

Buddy is an EMS and for a while they were responding to quite a few accidents because people didn't know how to handle their Delica in emergency situations, they are also less safe than vehicles that are not as tall. That's all. They do look pretty fun though.

i found mine to be a lot more stable then i anticipated. That being said i did adjust my driving. Off road it has been very good with the exception of one near roll over, which might have happened in any suv/van

You know you went to far when even Tungsten thinks your a Jack Ass.

Oh sick! Gotta try that. Is there a button that will drop a manual transmission into it too?

"Bolt on" is stretching it.

The fuel tank has to be shortened to fit the transfer case.

The 2WD van doesn't have mounts for the 4WD truck torsion bars so you need to fabricate something.

Ujoint wouldn't be able to sell kits starting at $3800US if it was really bolt in.

With the exception of having the sleeves welded in(beyond most driveway mechanics)…100% bolt in is do-able. Zero fabrication.
Even the tank, as you can buy the fuel tank…or just take yours to a shop and get it modified…bolt back in.
It can be done in stages. Get the front axle in, steering parts, lift rear to match..install big tires…you're rolling with all the clearance, just no transfer case yet.

Really needs to be a thing in the 4runner. Automatics don't belong behind any less than a v8.

I guess our definitions of "bolt in" are different.

I use the "sport" mode just so I can pretend.
