Well I'll be the guinea pig and report back. That said, I'm not throwing out my socket set.

I'm pretty sure I'm hooked into most of the flyers, but if anyone sees Milwaukee's M18 Fuel's being sold for cheap, let me know and I'll think highly of you for a minimum of two weeks.

no experience with makita.. apart from grinders.

We use some Makita stuff at work and the 18v batteries don't seem to last very long. I think at least three batteries have broken/died so far.

I would happily own Milwaukee or Makita but I did buy Dewalt for my personal set.

The Makita and Bosch stuff intrigues myself slightly

I've been working with cordless tools since I started in construction and have seen many brands and models come and go. Currently using hilti and find them the best. Granted they are quite pricey but this is one case where you pay for what you get. In our crew of over 40 employees many are using dewalt, makita, Bosch and Milwaukee and only hilti outlasts them all.

I've got 4 tools and 7 batteries and in 4 years have had one battery replaced under warranty and my 1/2" impact was also warranties. Prior to that I was all dewalt and constantly warranteeing batteries and tools. Still have some for backup and around the house but not up to jobsite use 8 hrs a day.

I was just looking at the Hilti website a few weeks and and was wondering why no one sells them locally. Who does sell them Philly?

Gotta go straight to hilti, the closest one is across from the ford dealer on lougheed at holdom. As for why they're not available at resellers I imagine because you wouldn't buy a Bentley at a Mitsubishi dealer.
