I used to use a 4/3 steamer and would put a hooded vest on if need be. Good booties were nice to have. Dishwashing gloves if it got real cold but then I'd use the suit for surfing, surf-kayaking and windsurfing. Another nice place to get some surf is the point breaks on Gordons Beach although that usually gets windphucked pretty easy
Kite surfing / Windsurfing
Ive only been in Tofino. When I was in Vic, there was no surf, but still drove out to Jordan, and Sombrio just to see what it was like. I assume being in Sooke, you head out there?
Pretty much, I've surfed Tofino a couple times, but for the most part it's this side.

I was humbled when trying to learn to surf.Pissed me right off and ended up spending the rest of my vacation in Hawaii on a body board.

I have to admit that it was so far the hardest sport I've learned how to do. But, it
is the one sport that has helped me do so many others easily.

It definately is a sport where you need to do it as often as possible to improve
Why slag free swag?
ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.
It's hard to learn surfing on the mainland. You have to be on the island. I spent literally 10 - 15 days a month in the water for 4 years before getting decent. Man do you get killer abs and core strength though

So true.
I can ride 4-5 days a week, if I don't surf for a couple months, I'm sore as hell
after an hour or two in the water.

if you still get cold hands from dishwashing gloves or even neoprene gloves these are the shit IF whatever you are doing allows you to use mitts
We use them for WW paddling in PeeG right up until freeze-up … you would pull into an eddy and there would be chunks of ice floating around that was the size of your head
I actualy made my mitts by taking a pattern from a buddies set and cutting /gluing up
all this surfing talk is making me wish i was going away this fall
oh well, i guess there is always next year
meh
^ looks like pipeline…and maybe two Brazilian women.
