I dont get it, there has to be a better option for managing music on my iphone. anyone, anyone? I am tired of the countless duplicate files that seem to get added every time I update the music on on my phone and how hard it is to remove them. It also seems to organize artists and albums completely at random. not that i have played with it that much, it frustrates me too much to spend the time to figure it out. is there a better option out there?
I don't have any of these problems. All my files are properly organized and tagged. It took me a long time to get everything dialled because so much of my digital music from pre-2009 was tagged by chimps. I went in and tagged everything, correct titles, genres, release year, album artwork, track sequencing, etc. If everything seems chaotic maybe you should check your tags.
I have a bunch of Smart Playlists set up to capture music by genre, length, date, date added, etc which are sync'd so when I plug in my phone it pulls down the updated versions of those playlists. It's possible to nicely automate the whole process. Every time I plug in my phone it updates with my latest music - I don't have to do anything but plug in the cable. The date filters mean that eventually music gets pulled off as well, which is cool because it removes music from heavy rotation for a while.
Periodically I go in an tell it to include certain albums or my whole collection from a particular artist. Or exclude them. Or whatever - just shift stuff around like I would on any player.
