The scenario is pretty doomsday, but not entirely unrealistic. I figure it will get a lot worse in the US over the next year, but probably not quite as bad as he says.

The problem with his stance is that he singles out the USA as a sensation country that is an Empire and just like any Empire before it the time has come for it to "fall". We live in Global markets, the world is interconnected and the USA has one currency that every poor country around the world uses for savings (some keep it in the house, others in the bank). Complete devaluation of the USD would spell and even bigger disaster on poorer countries . Most of the debt the USA has collected is owed to China and those guys will not call on it (because the only way to pay is to devalue your own currency, and how would that help?).

The guy IS crazy. He just wants publicity.

everyone knows from econ 103, that you do not appear on tv, and reveal secrets, you keep it to yourself and use it to maximize your profit.. So he is telling us useless information.

Maybe he wants to be known as the one of the few who "called it" But he has just as much to lose as he does to gain, would one take the chance of being wrong if his buisness depends on it unless he was certain. There are only a few out there publicly sounding this message like Peter Schiffe, Ron Paul, Glen Beck etc. and thousands of youtube messengers like this guy

I find it an instant red flag 2012 just happens to be the year this guy's predictions culminate, and I think there a lot of people who delight in getting people all riled up over worst-case-scenarios.

This week Physorg.com ran a story saying the sun is going destroy the power grid with plasma storms in 2012. I'm not losing any sleep over that one either.
