Who has one? A 2.5i, 5spd in particular.

Fuel economy? Power? Tough enough for gravel roads? Highway comfort? Should I even consider a n/a Subaru? Id like a 2010ish 5dr.

for what its worth, we've had a 2013 impreza hatchback for almost a year. Zero problems. Car is awesome on gas, fun to drive and just feels really well put together. It has the 2L with cvt.

Have a 2011 5-dr with an auto 'cause after the JPN seismic event, you took what was available. HP is rated at 170, so no passing issues unless it's loaded up to the gills. No mechanical issues yet. Supposedly the stick is 'notchy' and not for everyone. Definitely thirstier than the 2WD I had before it, but have not needed to put snowies on; the thing just goes in snow [HTML_REMOVED] ice even with the stock Dunlop AS tires. No real clearance above a Civic. Get an Outback if you need clearance, or an older Outback Sport from the US (jacked up Impreza a la Outback).

I had a 2010 WRX which was awesome, but if you're a stickler for interiors, they might not cut it. My mazda 3 interior is way less rattly, and has a nicer feel to it.

edit: the mazda 3 can pack more stuff too.

I test drove a 2011. Found the suspension a bit spongy for my liking. Power was OK. Lots of room in it given its footprint, especially headroom.

But I ended up with the WRX :) Add the Cobb Tuning device and you have STi power out of the box.

I've got an 2009 Forester. Handles fire roads great and with snow tires is unbeatable in the snow.

Definitely a lesbaru though.

Oh, and the 2.5 is not a fuel efficient engine. Then add AWD.

If you are concerned about fuel economy get a hybrid.
