Has got something to do with their belief that pork is not halal, ie. "clean and save" to eat according to their religious laws. This could stem from the fact that pigs are not really suitable for desert environments as these laws come from a time when there were no fridges. And pigs like to eat what humans would be inclined to call garbage.
