Microsoft bought the photo editing software I used to use and it took only a few weeks before it began to suck. Can they beat that record with Skype?
How long before Skype sucks?
 uh oh!
hmmm, better question….when didn't Skype suck?
Unlimited calling to any phone in North America for $19.95 a year doesn't suck.
free calling computer to computer that my mom can even learn how to use doesn't suck.
Calling my parents in Ontario from China for 7c a minute or something like that didn't suck.
calling my parents from Europe for free cause i spent my last 3 euros on beers, AWESOME. Ive also kept a sub-par long distance relationship going since December due to skype..

Get that for free from google, as long as you don't need an incoming number

This doesn't sound like a good thing…
How many briefcases to you figure that took?
Friends that came to BC from else were for school all are Skype addicts for getting in touch with people back home.
Gf's sister just had a baby and then moved to red deer. Skype lets the grandparents interact with the grandchild who is only 7 months old now.
How MS will make skype suck is beyond me. It's so simple and effective. I'm sure they are up to the task though. Almost as large of an impact might be viruses and hackers now more motivated as part of the "fuck you MS" die hards.
I use Skype to make a living…i hope MS does not suck it up.
the shit part is that skypein numbers are not portable (as in the US local number portability regulations). if I want to keep my 360 area code number I've got to keep paying $60/year for life.
google ate gizmo5 which was producing a skype competitor softphone for windows and osx. expect to see more call-in/call-out features in google talk soon. google talk is already a viable videochat alternative to skype.
