The “articles” by the BC media on this topic couldn’t be more one-sided.

I didn't even know we were part of a bid until everyone got mad about it. LOL. My guess is that it is just like the Olympics where the costs are obvious but underestimated and the benefits are hard to put a finger on. Hosting a big tournament sounds great, but organizations like FIFA and the IOC are predatory.
We were only talking about three prelim games anyway,no guarantee of any top matches. Judging by the price of real estate the rest of the world already knows where Vancouver is.
We wouldn't win any games & I doubt we would score even one goal. Canadian men's soccer team is not that good. Ranked 90th.Better off we don't host, it would just be embarrassing.

I think the main concern was the fact we would essentially be writing FIFA a blank cheque knowing full well about how corrupt they are. Horgan made the right choice %110
The main concern is the contract FIFA expects the host to sign. It gives FIFA so much control of almost every aspect of the tournament that the host could be required to cough up much more money than anticipated.
LOL @ hosting games in BC Place stadium. Wasn't the stadium built with a 20yr life expectancy? Or a temp stadium for Expo 86? All those NFL and college football stadiums below the 49th are much nicer and have greater seating capacity.
I don't think the players would enjoy playing on artificial turf.

more like lol at your own lack of knowledge
lol at my knowledge that stadium is too small for CFL anyway it was built to the same specs by the same people who built the stadium of same vintage in Mpls for the Vikings to play in.
Great news from the BC NDP party. You get what you pay for. It's very important to have people in hospitals taken care of with healthy food & clean rooms. I applaud this move. It (contracting out / breaking a union agreement) never should have happened in the first place.
Two huge thumbs up 👍👍

Long overdue.
